Research is a core priority for the MND Foundation, and one important part of that work is helping remove the practical barriers that can delay access to promising treatment advances.
Supporting clinical delivery at Queen Square
The Foundation is funding an MND Foundation clinician within the Queen Square Neurology team in London to support access to Tofersen for eligible patients with a genetic form of motor neurone disease.
Tofersen has been shown to slow progression in a genetic form of MND, but access can be limited by hospital capacity, specialist staffing and the complexity of administering the treatment.
Removing barriers to access
By supporting clinical delivery, the Foundation is helping address some of these barriers so that more eligible patients can benefit sooner.
This work reflects the Foundation’s wider research pillar, which focuses on supporting pioneering work, targeting funding gaps and helping progress reach people affected by MND.
Closing the gap between research and care
The Foundation’s role is not only to support research, but also to help close the gaps between scientific progress, clinical delivery and patient access.
Thank you to everyone whose support helps make this work possible.
